Robert E. Moreland

Robert E. Moreland attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1986. Mr. Moreland remained at the University of North Carolina and completed his Juris Doctorate degree in 1989.

For thirteen years, Mr. Moreland defended physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, nurses, and other healthcare providers in medical negligence claims. In February of 2003, he and John A. Heilig established The Heilig Firm, P.C. The firm’s mission is to provide injured parties experienced and skilled legal representation in all aspects of personal injury law, to include medical and nursing malpractice, nursing home abuse, damage caused by defective products, premises liability, and motor vehicle negligence. The firm has negotiated substantial settlements for its clients, and now litigating scores of lawsuits in Courts throughout Southeastern Virginia and North Carolina.

Mr. Moreland is licensed by the Virginia and North Carolina State Bars. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Moreland is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association.

Since 1989, Mr. Moreland has lectured extensively to physicians, nurses, lawyers, and administrators in Virginia regarding issues of medical and nursing malpractice. He and Mr. Heilig concentrate exclusively on matters involving traumatic injury or death.

The Heilig Firm, P.C. regularly accepts referrals from well respected lawyers in the community who rely upon Mr. Heilig and Mr. Moreland to evaluate and, if meritorious, prosecute personal injury claims.
